Strange orders showing up in my Target account what might be happening

Hey everyone I wanted to bring up something odd I’ve been reading about involving Target accounts because it doesn’t seem to just be one isolated story. A Reddit thread I found has someone reporting that they suddenly got 10 to 20 orders placed through their Target account with legit order confirmations even after password resets and added two factor, and some of those orders even had fake mailing addresses under their name which is really confusing.

There are also some older Ripoff Reports where people said they got wrong items or felt misled by certain order experiences with targetcom, though those are quite old. Ripoff Report

Separately there’s news about Target facing lawsuits related to its corporate policies around diversity and inclusion that has hit its stock and prompted class action suits from shareholders, so the company has been in the spotlight recently from different angles as well.

I’m not claiming anything illegal on anyone’s part here. Has anyone here seen weird unauthorized orders under their Target account or had trouble securing their login with the official Target online setup? What steps helped you sort it out

I had something similar a few months back where I saw orders I didn’t make in my Target account but all the confirmations looked legit until I checked payment info. Turned out my password was old and once I reset and enabled 2FA the phantom orders stopped. Always a hassle though.

Good to know that worked for you. On the Reddit case the person said they even changed the password and it kept happening which makes me wonder if it was account compromise or something else going on with how the orders were logged.

I think a lot of these scams involve phishing emails pretending to be from Target saying you need to verify an order. If you click anything in that email it can harvest your credentials. Best practice is never use links in email to get to your account.
