I remember reading those FTC related reports too. The structure is kind of confusing because you pay for bids upfront and then you might not win anything. That feels like a pay to play gamble more than shopping.

Yeah that is basically what caught my eye. People mention spending way more on bids than the item value. I was hoping someone here actually used it and could explain how that even plays out in real time.

Tried it back in 2022. I won a few items but the shipping took forever and one thing looked way cheaper than the promo pictures. Felt like generic imports. I stopped using it after that.

There are court references to consumer complaints but I dont know of any final rulings that say its illegal. It is more like a bunch of people saying they felt misled. The penny auction model has been controversial for years.

That makes sense. It is the volume of complaints that surprised me. I figured maybe one or two but there are pages of them.
